Haverfordwest High VC School

Construction and demolition photography for a brand new school.

We love a project that goes with a bang, so the demolition of an old school and the creation of a new one in its place made for a fascinating journey involving demolition photography and documenting the new build that has risen from the rubble.

Introducing… Haverfordwest High VC School

Located in the centre of a busy market town and having been the learning place of many community members, this project had a lot of interest from the people of the county. The demolition photography of the old Sir Thomas Picton school, which had seen many of the local population pass through its doors since the 1970s, garnered much interest on social media. Contractors Morgan Sindell, alongside Pembrokeshire County Council, allocated the old school as the site of a brand new, £48 million-pound school to be created in Pembrokeshire, and work commenced on the site in 2019.

How Construction View could help

As this was a project that was right at the heart of a town and at the heart of a community, it was important for both contractors and the public to be able to see developments in the project at every step. While the demolition photography was shared widely on social media, Construction View was instructed to capture the progression of the new build over a 30-month period. Using both in-person and drone photography, we collected visual monthly progression via internal and external photography as well as drone and elevated photography, and film footage that could be shared with key stakeholders and the press.

Another key service used for this project was 360-degree photography, allowing officials and project managers an immersive virtual experience while the site was locked down to visitors during the pandemic. This allowed work to continue effectively with all project staff kept up-to-date remotely.

Why Construction View was the right choice for Haverfordwest High VC School
