Ocky White Redevelopment

Ocky White Redevelopment Site

Aerial photography of an ancient site under redevelopment.

An ancient discovery had halted works at this redevelopment site, but with good reason - hundreds of skeletons had to be dug up first!

Introducing… Ocky White Redevelopment Site

There has been much media attention surrounding the Ocky White redevelopment site. When Pembrokeshire County Council decided to redevelop the old, abandoned department store at the centre of the county town into a modern food hall, little did they realise that they would unearth some of the most fantastic archaeological finds in what was a medieval priory hidden beneath the modern building for decades. The 240 skeletal finds, half of which were children, even drew archaeological rock star Dr Alice Roberts to investigate the priory, which dates back to 1256.

How Construction View could help

We might not have been allowed to film during the excavations, but Construction View is now an active participant in this historic site’s future. The people buried at this site have been safely moved, and the progression of the new site is back on track, with the work’s completion estimated as September 2023. As with other redevelopment sites, key stakeholders and members of Pembrokeshire County Council’s team can be updated using footage captured at each stage of the forthcoming work. Monthly visual updates will help the team gauge progress, review proposals, and finish the job quickly and effectively.

At this particular site, its proximity to the Cleddau River as well as its central location on a busy high street means that Construction View will be adopting a drone photography and videography approach to the redevelopment - a perfect service to capture a mysterious site.

Why Construction View was the right choice for Ocky White

We’re known for our aerial services throughout Wales and are a trusted photography and videography provider for many large-scale companies across the country, including Pembrokeshire County Council. Creating real-time visual mapping of the work site allows the council and contractors to understand the site development clearly so that the project can get back on track after a fascinating historic hiatus.
